Our biorepository banks 3.5 million blood, DNA, urine, and saliva specimen aliquots from approximately 250,000 participants across numerous clinical research trials including sentinel clinical trials such as the Women’s Health Study (WHS), Physicians’ Health Study (PHS), and VITamin D and OmegA-3 TriaL (VITAL).
Each freezer is supplied with liquid nitrogen directly via a 6,000-gallon bulk tank and complex piping network. Our freezers are individually alarmed and monitored remotely with on-call staff available 24/7 to resolve any freezer issues while a sophisticated HVAC system and oxygen surveillance detectors regulate the repository ambient environment.
In addition to our cryogenic long-term storage solutions, our biorepository, lab staff, and programmers efficiently receive blood kits, process specimens for storage in liquid nitrogen freezers, manage sample databases, and prepare and ship stored samples for analysis.
